TABLOIDELEMEN.com – SMA Negeri 2 Purbalingga hosted the ECCOS Competitions 2026, an English competition on February 14, 2026 in the SMANDA Auditorium.
This was the first annual English competition held by SMA Negeri 2 Purbalingga, which covers Speech, Storytelling, and News Casting.
As the primary event, this has successfully laid the groundwork and open the door for junior high school students to challenge and improve their English skills.
The ECCOS Competitions 2026 was organized by the English Conversation Club of SMA Negeri 2 Purbalingga (ECCOS).
This prestigious annual event was held with the purpose of enhancing students get better in using English to communicate and convey important messages to society.
Moreover, by bringing the theme of “Dare to Dream, Dare to Act” this event has also facilitated students to feel more confident and competitive in taking action and talking in public about many important topics.
The events began in the morning with the opening ceremony speech from Fitri Winarti, S.Pd., as the vice principal of SMA Negeri 2 Purbalingga.
ECCOS Competitions 2026 SMA Negeri 2 Purbalingga
The Head of the Organizing Committee, Amalsya Bulan Cakra Luhur Anggara, also delivered the welcoming remarks to the participants of ECCOS Competitions 2026.
To further energize the participants, a modern dance performance by Dance Art of SMA Negeri 2 Purbalingga (DAS) was presented, enhancing the overall enthusiasm for the competition.
Without delay, all participants proceeded to the competition rooms to demonstrate their skills in Speech, Storytelling, and Newscasting.
After competing for six hours, 71 participants from Junior High School in Purbalingga, with much anticipation, were waiting for the results to be announced.
They were gathered in the auditorium and had the chance to receive an overall evaluation from the panel of judges.
“In delivering a speech, you should speak as who you are, tell your honest experience, and choose the vocabulary that is suitable for your age,” said Rahmi Oktarini M.Pd. in her remarks as one of the judges of Speech.
“In telling stories, students have performed great with their communicative gestures, facial expressions, while playing the characters in the story to make it compelling, alive, and entertaining,” Upik Hastuti, M.Pd. stated in her remarks as one of the judges of Story telling.
“There are many styles of delivering news as a news anchor. It can be formal, depending on the news you will deliver. Not only the composure, but it also requires accurate pronunciation and intonation when you deliver your news on air,” Sigit Adi Pambudi, M.Pd., stated in his remarks as one of the judges of News Casting.
Dare to Dream, Dare to Act
The ECCOS Competitions 2026 had finally come to an end with the announcement of the winners.
For the Speech Competition, Dyah Ayu Paramita Saraswati from SMP Negeri 1 Purbalingga got the 1st Winner;
Sebastian Abiwara Pradana Kusuma from SMP Negeri 1 Purbalingga got the 2nd Winner;
Hafiz Birul Walidain from MTs Muhammadiyah 04 Purbalingga got the 3rd Winner.
For the Story Telling Competition, Alberthina Mallow from SMP Negeri 1 Padamara got the 1st Winner;
Equeena Aqilla Syafaqoh from SMP Negeri 1 Rembang got the 2nd Winner; Gladisty Prasetyo from SMP Negeri 1 Kutasari got the 3rd Winner.
For the News Casting Competition, Zazqya Sekar Arum from SMP Istiqomah Sambas Purbalingga got the 1st Winner;
Artalita Raya Putri Ivana from SMP Negeri 1 Kertanegara got the 2nd Winner;
Ifnea Mecca Dzikrina Istighfarani from SMP Negeri 1 Bukateja got the 3rd Winner.
